1. Overview
Accountability relies on honest participation and community trust. This Dispute Policy outlines the process for flagging potentially non-compliant workouts, how disputes are reviewed, the role of challenge administrators, and escalation paths available to participants. This policy applies to all challenges on the platform, whether paid or free.
2. Flagging a Workout
Any challenge participant may flag another participant's workout check-in if they believe it does not meet the challenge requirements. When flagging, you must provide a reason explaining why you believe the workout is non-compliant. Flags are reviewed by the challenge administrator and are not visible to the flagged participant until a decision is made. Flagging should only be used in good faith; abuse of the flagging system may result in account restrictions.
3. Administrator Review
The challenge administrator (creator) is responsible for reviewing all flagged workouts. When reviewing a flag, the administrator can:
- Dismiss the flag: The workout stands and continues to count toward the participant's score. The flagger is not penalized.
- Remove the workout: The check-in is marked as removed and no longer counts toward the participant's completion percentage or refund calculation. The affected participant is notified via direct message with the administrator's review note.
4. Impact of Removed Workouts
When a workout is removed through the flag review process, the following occurs:
- The check-in no longer counts toward the participant's weekly and overall completion score.
- Points associated with the removed check-in are recalculated for the affected week.
- The participant's refund projection is updated to reflect the new completion percentage.
- A direct message is sent to the participant explaining the removal and the administrator's reasoning.
5. Relief Week Requests
Participants who are unable to complete workouts due to illness, injury, or other legitimate reasons may submit a relief week request. Relief requests must include:
- The specific week number affected.
- A reason explaining the circumstances.
The challenge administrator reviews relief requests and may approve or deny them with an optional review note. Approved relief weeks are excluded from the participant's completion calculation, ensuring no negative impact on their score or refund. Relief requests should be submitted before or during the affected week when possible.
Relief Weeks are the only supported mechanism for taking time off from a challenge once your stake has been paid. Because paid stakes lock you into the challenge for its full duration, disputes about an inability to continue must be raised through this Relief Week process — not by leaving the challenge. Attempting to bail on a challenge to avoid the end-of-challenge settlement charge is not permitted and is not a ground for dispute.
6. Administrator Responsibilities
Challenge administrators are expected to:
- Review flagged workouts promptly (within 48 hours when possible).
- Make fair and consistent decisions based on the challenge rules.
- Provide clear reasoning when removing a workout.
- Review relief requests in a timely manner.
- Not abuse their administrative authority for personal advantage.
Administrators who consistently make unfair decisions may have their ability to create challenges restricted.
7. Flagger Accountability
The platform tracks flagging activity, including how many flags each participant has submitted and what percentage of those flags resulted in workout removal versus dismissal. This information is visible to the challenge administrator. Participants with a pattern of bad-faith flagging (consistently filing flags that are dismissed) may receive a warning and, in repeated cases, may have their flagging privileges limited.
8. Escalation Process
If you believe an administrator's decision regarding a flagged workout or relief request was unfair, you may escalate the dispute by contacting us at disputes@accountability.app. Include:
- The challenge name and your username.
- The specific flag or relief decision you are disputing.
- Your reasoning for why you believe the decision was incorrect.
We will review the escalation and respond within 7 business days. Our review considers the challenge rules, submitted evidence (photos, notes), and the administrator's stated reasoning. Our decision on escalations is final.
9. Prohibited Conduct
The following actions are prohibited and may result in account suspension or termination:
- Submitting fraudulent workout check-ins or proof photos.
- Filing flags in bad faith to harass or sabotage other participants.
- Administrators removing legitimate workouts without cause.
- Colluding with other participants to manipulate scores.
- Retaliating against participants who file legitimate flags.
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions.
10. Resolution Timeline
We aim to resolve all disputes according to the following timeline:
- Flag review by administrator: Within 48 hours of submission.
- Relief request review: Within 48 hours of submission.
- Platform escalation review: Within 7 business days of receipt.
Delays may occur during periods of high volume. If a flag is not reviewed before the challenge ends, the workout will count toward the participant's score by default.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Dispute Policy to reflect changes in our processes or platform features. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Your continued participation in challenges after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
